Life…The Soul Search

January5

Yoga guru Surakshit Goswami analyses the fickle and restless mind and says just half-an-hour of Pran Oorja Yog can help

Why is the mind so fickle? The reason is simple enough. We are so influenced by physical desires that our mind is always wavering and is in turmoil. The mind is happy as long as things happen in accordance with its desires. The moment events take a sudden turn and our wishes are not fulfilled, it becomes sad and perturbed. As a result, it alternates between sukh and dukh or happiness and agony. We must remember that if we are unduly attached to material objects, even after spending a lifetime searching for happiness in the external world, peace and happiness will always elude us.

The state of our mind controls our physical health. A mind that wanders gets disturbed easily and suffers tension and despair, which can lead to sickness. In such a condition, it is futile to take steps to regain physical health while neglecting the mind.

Know Your Mind
How do you understand the mind? How do you rein it in? The solution lies in delving deep into the mind, and establishing a communion with your inner self. In the process, you become an embodiment of love, compassion, equality and bliss. This is the state of dhyaan or meditation. And this is the beginning of yoga.

To master yoga, we must aim to lead an ideal way of life and seek the blessings of a guru. Practice yoga regularly to keep the body, sense organs, mind and life force free of ailments and move on the road to spirituality.
Typically, our mind wanders either in the past or future owing to a chain of thoughts or vrittis that cloud the mind. These thoughts — influenced by the environment we live in and arising from certain characteristics that we have inherited — influence our responses to the material world, giving rise to sanskaaras or traits.

Accept Your Destiny
This is where yoga can help. A saadhak or yoga practitioner remains in a pure and free state of mind. He gladly accepts the inevitable actions that are destined for him. All sanskaara or accumulated acts of a previous life are destroyed and no action occurs owing to a sense of non-attachment.
Yoga expands our horizons and spurs us on to positive thoughts. We are filled with affection and compassion towards others; all our doubts and confusions vanish. Our face radiates happiness as we develop integrity of mind. As we continue with yoga, adversity does not perturb us. Yoga makes our entire life a celebration.

Choose any one of the many yoga forms — Rajyog, Gyanyog, Bhaktiyog, Kriyayog, Asthangyog and Hathyog — for a feeling of liberation, and a happy, peaceful, and healthy life. Or practice Pran Oorja Yog, conceived and developed after years of research to combat problems related to current lifestyles.

I love to dance in rain

June11

Rain.. to me is a new life. It generates new energy in me…ever seen the world, trees after the first rain..

Everything seems to have got a new life, a new color… like God has filled the world with new colors…

I love to dance in rain… love to melt in its shower…

love to forget everything and just listen to the raga of falling of drops on my soul with my eyes closed…

I remember the days … when returning from college and office… I never used to open umbrella to protect myself from rain… I used to walk and enjoy a lot with each and every falling drop of rain… loved the way small drops changed to heavy rain fall… the fragrance of wet sand…ahhh… its awesome !!!!!!!!!

New dreams she weaves
in those dreams she lives
wandering through thoughts
connecting the dots
well aware of reality
experiences , she has plenty
She got a cute smile
and heart of a little child
who loves to be loved

taken care of and pampered
secretive yet social
cold yet amiable
She is like a star
so near yet so far
this is all I have to say
rest , you find in your own way…

Santoor, My Favorite Musical Instrument

May6

The Santoor is essentially a stringed instrument, having its origin in the Vedic times, during which it was referred to as a veena of the forests. Extensively associated with Kashmir and its heavenly valleys, the origins of santoor also lie in Kashmir.. ..The lilting sound, the tingling tone of the strings, lithely strummed brings out the musical wonder in every listener… This instrument was made of strings of the munja grass, and was called the vana veena, or the veena of the forests in ancient times and was played using strikers. The santoor as one understands today is largely the result of the innovations and changes of brought about in the Soofiana instrument by Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma. I love to hear the divine sound of santoor. Its so spiritual… Some music instruments are very popular ..while some are rarely heard… but they all have their own place in Rhythm n Raga….

Hair care

May3

Hi…

This article is about hair problem. Nowadays every 2nd person has a hair problem… may it be of hair fall, fuzzy hair, split ends, etc… of these one of the major problem is HAIR FALL…. In market you will find so many products claiming reduction in hair fall etc… and we get lure to this advertisement also.. we keep trying and tasting products ….but i feel or rather my way of treating to this problem is Ayurveda. With the help of some domestic things you can actually find not more but little solution… and you don’t have to search out anywhere cause u’ll get those things from home…

Friends, here are some of the trials you can do …(for a change….)

* Add 6-8 drops of lemon juice to an egg. Beat well and apply on your hair followed by washing with a herbal shampoo.

* Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. Make sure to rinse out the conditioner thoroughly. You can use discount coupons to buy shampoo online.

* Amla, shikaki powder mixed with curd is a good conditioner and should be made use of.

* Massaging with aroma oils once a week reduces hairfall and makes them soft and silky. Rosemary oil and titri oil can also be used.

*Mix curd, lemon and mustard oil, apply gently on hair and wash your head after about half an hour.

*Take amla (100gm), shikaki (100gm), brahmi booti (10gm), shilajit (1/2 gm), anaarchhilka (20gm), bhringraj (10 gm). Soak them overnight in  an iron utensil. Blend and

make a paste. Apply well into the scalp. Keep it for 1-2 hours and wash it off with warm water.

* The oil from the amla, prepared by boiling dry pieces of amla in coconut oil, is a hair tonic for enriching hair growth and prevent hair loss.

* Use lavender or lemon shampoo if your hair are oily and if dry, use titri oil or rosemary shampoo too.

* Rinse hair with lemon juice or vinegar.

* Soak a towel in hot water and squeeze lightly. Cover your hair with this for 10 minutes and do try this for almost a week.

* Squeezed lemons can be soaked overnight and the water can then be used to clean the hair.

* Dry peels of lemon and oranges should be used. This will maintain soft and silky hair and also removes dandruff from the scalp.

* Two tablespoons of fenugreek (methi) seeds soaked overnight in water. The softened seeds should be grounded into a fine paste in the morning and applied over the scalp &    left for half an hour and then washed thoroughly. This is highly affective to remove dandruff.

* Mustard oil boiled with heena (mehndi) leaves is useful for the healthy growth of hair.

These are some of the home remedies one can try…. with patience …but along with this, most important is, Drink 10-12 glasses of water daily and have a high protein diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Take care !!!!
